I’m not cut out for white collar work
I am a good employee. Tell me to be somewhere; I’ll show up early. Ask me to clean; I’ll do so with enthusiasm. I wish I were more deviant, and perhaps I should be. But, how you do one thing is how you do everything right?
Though we try to remain vigilant, much of the toll demanded still goes unnoticed. That’s the nature of a slow poison, isn’t it? An agonising death of creativity. The modern world demands much of a person. Especially within the current economic circumstances. Soften thy eyes, unclench those fists, and smile.
All hail the brave ones; the creatives, those who choose the path of greater resistance. The free man. The rebel. The boon-bringer.
“You’re haunted because you remember having something more. With each drag of the razor you ask yourself why you piss your blood into another man’s cup. Working at the job he offered, your future is between his thumb and forefinger. And the necessary accessories, the proclamations of success you thought gave you stability provide your boss security. Your debt encourages acquiescence, the heavy mortgage makes you polite.”
An extract from Twitching with Twight
It takes courage to burn the white collar shirt. And with courage comes consequence. The longer you wait, the more difficult it becomes. This is not to say that you shouldn’t work in an office, or have a boss. But when you find that you have having become a mindless robot then one might need to set something ablaze.
Demand more, first from yourself. Cut the ties, burn the bridges. Contribute something of significance. Breathe. Lift. Sweat. Bleed on your own terms. We are the consequence of our decisions. Own it, deal with it, learn from it, and most importantly dare not take pity on thyself.
The moment demands clarity. The sort of clarity you won’t find in the known world. Travel inward. There lies your destiny. There awaits the Holy Grail; the secret once lost.
Death to the modern man. This shell without substance. The next step need not be clear. Direction is a mistaken pre-requisite to move. The power lay not in the ‘knowing’; but in the willingness to move regardless of the direction. To move is to change; to change is to grow, and to grow is to realise the limitations of one’s own ambition.
Into the unknown we venture. Stripped of our white collars, and our direction. Relieved of our ambition. Willing to change. Willing to grow. Ready to burn it all to the ground.
